  • Xuan Banh Cuon in Sunshine for their Northern Vietnamese delicacy, pork and prawn banh cuon – delicious rice noodle parcels filled with prawns and minced pork.
  • Nada’s Take Away in the Footscray Market food court for their Macedonian cheese burek, featuring smooth ricotta cheese in pastry, served with potato wedges.
  • Safari in Ascot Vale for their Somalian ‘Regular’; a bowl of lamb broth, followed by spicy grilled chicken breast, served with salad, vegies and rice.

Choosing a Serviced Apartment Over a Hotel

It’s worth considering a serviced apartment for your next business trip. Not only can this be a cost-effective accommodation option, but you will also enjoy a much larger amount of space than in most hotel rooms.

Serviced apartments will have separate areas for living and sleeping, so you don’t have to work next to your bed. You also get a kitchen, meaning that you can choose whether you eat in or out each night. This can be particularly beneficial if you don’t like dining alone. And it can help to keep costs down, too, if you can cook your own food rather than paying for a restaurant meal.

Make Business Travel Smooth With These Top Tips

Prepare for a more pleasant business trip with these handy tips from fastcompany.com:

  1. Use two smaller bags rather than one large suitcase for your carry-on baggage. This should enable you to fit one bag beneath your seat and one in the overhead locker.
  2. Stick to a colour theme when packing to minimise the amount of clothing required.
  3. Organise so that you know the whereabouts of items in case you need anything quickly.
  4. Check in advance which kind of plug adapter you will need and purchase before you leave. This can save a lot of money.
  5. Using your mobile as a hotspot can be a cost-effective way of accessing the Internet while abroad – as long as you arrange an international data plan for your phone.
  6. USB recharging can cut down on the number of plugs and adapters you need – most devices come with a USB cable and can be charged via a USB port.
  7. At the airport, look briefly at the security personnel and determine who is the most efficient before joining their line.
  8. Have a separate bag for your in-flight entertainment contained within your carry-on luggage. This can easily be removed before storing your main bag without holding up other passengers who are waiting to sit down.
  9. For overnight flights, aim to maximise your sleeping time by eating pre-flight.
  10. Avoid heavy meals and alcohol so you’re in optimum condition upon landing.
